The Ship Operations Cooperative Program (SOCP) completed its Spring 2012 meeting   at STAR Center (Simulation, Training, Assessment & Research), Dania Beach, Florida.

The discussions in the meeting will focused on ENERGY SUSTAINABILITY.  Mr. Charles “Bud” Darr, Director of Environmental and Health Programs for the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) provided the keynote remarks.


Pertinent and timely issues were addressed during various panel discussions including MARAD Environmental Program Review, Environmental Control Areas (ECA) and Ship Efficiencies.  Industry Updates were provided on STCW Status Update, Ballast Water Regulations Update and Maritime Security Issues.  The presentations from the meeting have been posted on SOCP website at under Past Events.
