Program (SOCP) cordially invites maritime industry representatives to attend
and participate in our SOCP Spring 2013 Meeting to be held at STAR Center, 2
West Dixie Highway, Dania Beach, FL 33004 on February 20-21, 2013.
This meeting will focus on Recruiting the Next Generation of Mariners and how Regulatory Requirements and Critical Incidents impact the US Maritime Industry. We will also hear about Lessons Learned in the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy.
Keynote Speaker and Moderator: Rear Admiral Wendi B. Carpenter, President, State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College.
Attend and participate in the 4 Panel Discussions on:

- Regulatory Impacts on Crew Recruitment and Retention - How Do We Reduce?
- Maritime Lessons Learned from Super Storm Sandy - Opportunities for Improvement in Vessel Capabilities for Disaster Response?
- Piracy and Other Critical Incidents at Sea - How to Reduce Impacts on Mariners?
From Cargo Ships, Tankers, Passenger Vessels and Workboats to Shipyards and Ports, we welcome all maritime industry representatives to join us. There are no membership requirements to attend the meeting. However, participants must register for the event by using links on the SOCP website at www.socp.us

Meeting Press Release - February 20-21, 2013
Hotel accommodations are available on-site at STAR Center for $130 per person per day plus applicable state and local sales tax ($142.80 gross), subject to availability. This price includes full use of their galley, all prepared meals (Monday to Friday), and access to the food service area which is open 24/7. Check-in is normally after 1500 hrs. the day before the meeting is scheduled to commence and check-out is no later than 1000 hrs. Guests 12 years of age and older are welcome, subject to a facility fee of $30 per person per day plus 6% Florida Sales Tax.

Star Center is located about 3.5 miles from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Click the directions link on the events page for a map to Star Center. Cab fare from FLL is about $15.
