Upcoming Fall Meeting at MITAGS


The SOCP cordially invites the maritime community to attend the SOCP Annual Fall Meeting. This event will be held at MITAGS-PMI-CCMIT, 692 Maritime Boulevard, Linthicum, MD 21090 on October 29-30, 2014.

Congressman CummingsCongressman Elijah E. Cummings will be the Keynote Speaker to start the meeting focused on "Leadership & Upcoming Regulatory Issues Facing the Maritime Industry". A high caliber line-up of speakers have been invited to this exciting event, which will include the following facilitated panel discussions to help drive future cooperative program development:

  • Polar Code Issues and Proposed Solutions
  • STCW Issues and Proposed Solutions
  • Environmental Regulatory Issues and Proposed Solutions
  • Recruitment, Development and Retention of Maritime Employees

We welcome all maritime industry representatives to join us.
The SOCP is a non-profit organization comprised of business, government, education and workforce. Our business-led cooperative embodies like-minded individuals from every facet of the maritime community to explore challenges facing the U.S. maritime industry and discovering solutions together in the areas of safety, security, regulations, environmental protection and workforce development. New Mariner Security CBT

This new Computer-Based Training from SOCP provides maritime personnel with a comprehensive overview of the range of threats that information systems and devices are subject to, and the practices recommended to minimize those vulnerabilities. Best practices included in this training cover a wide range of topics, from maintaining security for corporate and government networks, to personal use of workplace computers, good password practices, and issues concerning the use of social media like Facebook and Twitter.

New Portable Foam Applicator DVD

SOCP, with support from MARAD, has developed a DVD on PFA95. The DVD highlights important orientation and operation features of this new class A & B rapid response fire  fighting apparatus.
