SASH Computer Based Training
This interactive CBT on “Maritime Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment (SASH) Prevention” will help mariners and shore based personnel better identify and prevent such behaviors as well as assist industry efforts to aggressively promote a culture of zero tolerance for such behavior.
The CBT will assist vessel owners and operators, maritime academies, maritime training institutions, maritime unions, and other maritime organizations in providing cost-effective annual training on these issues to U.S. mariners and shore based personnel in all segments of the U.S. maritime industry - ocean, coastwise, Great Lakes, inland, harbor, towing, offshore, cruise, ferries, dredging, research vessels, government owned, etc.

SASH Best Practices Guide
The BPG contains two separate sections for reference and guidance for the Employee and the Company. The Employee section is designed to provide U.S. merchant mariners and shore-based personnel with meeting their responsibility to be respectful and actively participate in a work environment free of sexual assault, sexual harassment and other prohibited behaviors. The Company section provides six best practices which should be part of every company’s policy on such behaviors in the workplace, whether onshore or at sea. Existing best practices, policies and procedures are emphasized within each section, with examples in the Annexes.

The “Tool Kit,” contains 4 quick reference guide brochures targeted to support the Company, Master, Shoreside Personnel, and Victims. Zero tolerance techniques and tips for prevention of and response to SASH behaviors are provided as appropriate for the different intended audiences.
There are also 17 downloadable SASH Prevention posters, which include some of the following themes: All Reports Investigated, Responsibility, Safety on Shore Leave, Zero Tolerance Culture, Negative Effects, and more. SOCP encourages companies to post these onboard their vessels as well as in shoreside facilities.

This Guide has been developed to assist members of the Ship Operations Cooperative Program (SOCP) in determining their emissions requirements, calculating potential cost savings, and understanding the integration and operational challenges of various EGCS technologies. Each ship operator will need to consider the discussions for and against each EGCS presented herein.

This Guide will assist members of the Ship Operations Cooperative Program (SOCP) in determining if a scrubber is a practical, lower-cost solution for all or a portion of their fleet to meet existing and future regulatory requirements.
Biodiesel Fuels in the Maritime Industry
The Study reviews previous studies and current information relative to both surface and marine use of biodiesel with the ensuing challenges regarding logistics, availability, economics, stability and handling of the fuel; and federal/state laws, credits, and mandates relative to both the use of biodiesel fuel, and emissions. Direct discussions were held with marine engine manufacturers and users of biodiesel fuels in both marine and surface applications. Information for surface (non-marine) applications of biodiesel fuel is included and referenced in this study, as there has been sparse evidence of sustained use among the commercial marine community.
Relatively few studies have been conducted for actual large scale commercial marine applications. Those that have been conducted, such as by the Washington State Ferry System and Celebrity Cruise Lines/Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, are covered in this report.

Needs&Challenges
The purpose of this study is to determine the needs for a centralized marine safety data
network, review the challenges present in studying accident prevention, and recommend next
steps for establishing a more useful collection of marine safety data for safety analysis. The primary focus of the study is to enable more productive use of existing accident and safety data and better provide useful knowledge on how to prevent accidents and improve levels of safety. This study effort was supported with funding provided by the U.S. Maritime Administration.
