About the GAM

The August GAM host is Dr Marissa Baker. Dr Baker is an Associate Professor at the University of Washington Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences. She researches how work and workplace exposures impact health. She has an interest in how worker health relates to workplace recruitment, retention, and worker resilience. During COVID-19 she led a study investigating mental health among US Mariners, and currently has a follow-up survey open for US Mariners to learn how the industry has changed post-COVID, how mariners are faring now, and what any ongoing needs may be. She has also done work with other essential industries including construction, logging, shipbuilding, and public transportation.
